Scuffed Death Stranding Spoof Game Looks Absolutely Dreadful

  • Man Standing is a spoof game inspired by Death Stranding.
  • It has a trailer and a dedicated Steam page.
  • The “game” features more than an uncanny resemblance to the real deal.

Something like this was bound to happen soon or later. An enterprising soul took it upon themselves to conjure up a rather elaborate spoof of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.

‘Man Standing’ Gets Dec. 10 Release Date

Rather than the usual medium of a video as we saw last week, we have here an actual video game, dubbed Man Standing. It even has a trailer, its very own Steam page, and a planned release date of Dec. 10.

Much like Death Stranding, Man Standing promises a lot: next-gen graphics, a deep philosophical plot, exciting battles, in-game social interaction, and 40 hours of gameplay.

“Developer” Alfina Gamers describes it as follows:

MAN STANDING is a survival game in an open, endless world. The player will have to shoulder the heavy burden of the only surviving person in the world who, in a fit of schizophrenic delirium, walks to places that hold memories of untimely people who left this world. But everything is not so simple – in this dangerous journey, evil enemies and anomalies will interfere with you. But you will not let them get in your way!

Instead of urgent packages destined for cloistered preppers, our hero lugs around what appears to be a refrigerator. He also takes part in uncomfortable dance-offs with the Joker, picks off marauding sharks, and does a whole bunch of walking.

Definitely a Death Stranding Spoof

If there’s any doubt this is a spoof of Death Stranding, take a look at the lead character’s rather uncanny resemblance to Norman Reedus.

The similarly vast Icelandic vistas, distribution centers, and a scuffed take on antagonist Higgs help in that respect. A certain “Hideko Kojimba” is also behind the game.

We won’t lie, it looks dreadful, but top marks for effort. And, while the graphics don’t match the real deal, they aren’t half-bad for a game made in jest. Whether you’ll need a beastly Intel Core i9 and an RTX 2080 Ti to run Man Standing as the Steam page suggests seems a bit of a stretch, in our opinion.
